The Charities
The Walter and Eliza Hall Group of Charities encompasses the following entities:
The Walter and Eliza Hall Trust (the original trust established in 1912)
The Walter and Eliza Hall Supplementary Trust
The Walter and Eliza Hall Charitable Foundation
These entities have evolved from the original trust to allow us to move with the times and to meet the changing needs of the communities we try to support, while ensuring we remain compliant with Government regulations.
Each of the parts of our group differ slightly in focus and emphasis but are managed as one seamless business from our Sydney office. When donations are received, we direct them to the most applicable part of our organisation so that the donor can receive a tax deduction and, if the donor expresses any wishes for a particular purpose for the donation, to ensure we can comply with those wishes.
Named Funds
The Walter and Eliza Hall Trust would like to acknowledge the generosity of our benefactors, Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation (VFFF), the Hudson-Lennox Fund (HLF), and the Eisen Family Private Fund (EFPF). These relationships have enabled significant support to be delivered to the community.
Our relationship with VFFF began in 1927, and in the last century alone they have distributed $3 million to the Trust, providing essential assistance to those in our community who are experiencing significant hardship.
Our association with HLF began in 1988. The particular purpose of this contribution is to assist persons with a physical disability, particularly as it applied to their need for vital equipment to enhance mobility and therefore encourage independence.
Starting in 2021, the EFPF provides financial assistance to patients of Australian public hospitals who are in need. Assistance aims to ensure that individual patients and their families maintain the minimum standards of safety, security, protection and comfort.
